Love yourself, be kind
It’s misty in the morning,
I can’t see too far ahead of me,
And I am trying to be kind.
Holding myself together,
As I stumble through the fog,
And I’m trying not to lose my mind.
“Love yourself,” they say,
As if it’s just that easy,
But I’m trying a little sympathy,
Watching myself carefully,
And trying to be kind to my mind.
The thing is,
I know the mist is due to shift,
By lunchtime there’ll be sun,
And the weather won’t reflect my state of my mind.
But in storm and sun and shadow,
I should watch myself and love myself,
Set aside dangerous behaviours,
And put myself above myself,
So I will hold myself together,
And I will try to be kind.
