To my lover, after valentines.

A lazy satisfaction
Reclining wrapped in fleece and flannel
A morning well-spent
Smug grins and filthy giggles

And the harsh burn of anticipation
As the bubbles dance on my tongue
And the day stretches ahead into the distance

We will eat together
Forget each other in separate sensual pleasures
Distracted by tastes
And distracting with touches

We will walk and hold hands
And buttoned up in my nice red coat I will look up at you shyly and smile
And my heart will swell
Fit to burst
That this is a little piece of peace that is mine

But for now we are languid
Lounging and satisfied from longing
And we share this sparkling bliss
And this is us

And this is love

100 Years

100 Years

So much can change in 100 years.
You can travel very far,
But this change can be exhausting,
And sometimes it's too damn hard.

A change began 100 years ago,
The start of something new and great.
Some say that change was it, enough.
For some change still comes too little, too late.

So find the joy in the change we've had.
Celebrate those who went before,
But keep drawing your battle lines in the sand,
And it is never the time to stop asking for more.
